New Ways to Wear Flash Tattoos for Fall

Flash tattoos are the best thing that happened to this summer, and they’re still going strong. The hottest celebrities are going crazy for the trend and let’s be honest- when was the last time you could actually buy something that Beyonce or the Jenner girls, Kendall and Kylie, have worn? Umm, pretty much never. Flash tattoos are a style that anyone and everyone can afford to get in on and it turns out they are super versatile. We’ve seen them on the beach, at the club, and of course at festivals and concerts. Now that summer is coming to a close, I wanted to give some new ideas on how to keep rockin the look going into the fall season.
1) Profesh
So summer vacation is over and I’m back in the office (yawn) but who said I can’t accessorize my suit with a little bling? Flash tattoos can be understated too, so to comfort my post-beach-separation anxiety, I’ll just bring a little shimmer to the board room with some gold “bangles” or classy rings. When I reach for the stapler, my coworkers will have to look twice to know they’re not the real thing.

2) Sporty
Nothing says Fall like good ‘ol American college football, so why not turn some heads at the tailgate party? This year, I plan on adding some gold glitz around my Gator jersey and I know some FSU chicks who would totally rock these arrows.

3) Jewelry Replacement
I am a total bauble snob who is hooked on jewelry, but sometimes my bank account and my jewelry box just can’t handle my gold obsession. I LOVE how flash tattoos are the best way to keep up with all the different accessory trends. There are so many different combinations and since you apply them directly to your skin, you get the perfect placement every time.

4) Gifts
Everyone has a different style and taste, but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t look good in some shiny jewelry. I plan on stocking up on these little golden wonders to give as gifts throughout the holiday season. They’re budget friendly and guaranteed to get the “OMG I’ve been wanting to try these!” squeal. Also, it’s been a long time since I was able to buy one type of gift for every woman in the family, so hallelujah that flash tattoos work for almost any age, I just hope they can handle being that freakin fabulous.

5) Holiday Party Look
I get so bored at holiday parties when everyone wears a LBD (little black dress). This year I want to stand out with flash tattoos. They’re a great conversation starter for those awkward ‘I don’t know anyone, how did I get invted to this?!’ moments.

Attention to Details… Nailing the Flight Attendant Interview Look

This is Part II of my original post about Interview Style for a Flight Attendant. This part will focus on Hair, Nails, Makeup, and shoes.

Here are some polished hairstyles that only take a few minutes to pull off. Just make sure you practice and watch tutorials on YouTube if you still don’t feel comfortable with the look.

1. The Cinnamon Sock Bun

This is a bit different than the generic sock bun that everyone else will inevitably be wearing. Instead of rolling all of your hair through the sock bun, leave some pieces out, twist them around, and bobby-pin in place.

2. The Bump and Part

Follow the images so you end up with a side-swept part in the front, followed by a bump and a low bun.

3. Braided Bun

If you’re a lady with braids, you can still style them into a side part and low bun, or loop. Just make sure that the clips or pins that you use are not visible.

4. Cross Bun

This is a low loop at the bottom, followed by two side-pieces of hair that are criss-crossed on top. SO elegant!

Makeup Looks

The key to good interview makeup is this: neutral, muted tones with matte texture. If you don’t know what any of that means, then ask someone at a makeup counter and they will match your skin with the perfect tones. Bold color is ok and can make you stand out, but you want to stand out in a good way, so use sparingly. You should avoid doing more than one bold feature (for example: smoky eyes, bright red lips, and lots of blush) and avoid anything glittery/shimmery. Take a look at the photos below for inspiration…

Makeup Don’ts:

Anything vampiresque.

Smoky eyes. Kris Jenner is always in violation of this rule. Just because you’re wearing a blazer doesn’t mean your night-club eyes are professional.

Nails should be short, manicured, and either neutral or red. Period.

Nail Don’ts

Long nails. Just because you got them done at a salon and paid for acrylics doesn’t mean they’re appropriate. You don’t want to look like the Long Island Medium in a Flight Attendant interview.

Shoes should be closed-toe, short heels. In other interviews, flats would be acceptable, but not for a flight attendant.

The Shoes below are from Payless and are simply fabulous. You don’t have to spend a hundred dollars on good interview shoes.

Shoe Don’ts

Bright colors

Glitter or distracting ornaments.

Wedges or open toes.

Platforms or spike heels. I know these ones are to die for, but trust me they are not professional.

I’ll leave you with this image of Marilyn Monroe in an interview because she nailed it like a BOSS, and that was 65 years ago.

Let’s Get Dressed: Attire for a Flight Attendant Interview

The first piece of advice before any interview is to do your research. You should know the company’s history, mission, values, and vision. You should think about whether or not YOU are a good fit for the company’s culture and environment, and your interview look should be tailored accordingly. For those pursuing the dream of becoming a Flight Attendant, it has been said that it is probably a good idea to mirror the airline’s uniform as closely as possible.  Below, I have put together some interview attire examples according to each airline.

1. Jet Blue Uniform

Style Suggestion:

Below is a classic blue suit with a fun pattern underneath. If you’re going to do a pattern, it is crucial that it is not distracting; No Hawaiian or floral prints. Also, the rest of your look should be simple; No chunky jewelry, head bands, or open toed shoes.

2. Delta Uniform

Style Suggestion:

I would add a blazer to this look and tie the scarf in a less dramatic way, but this look is great for Delta because their signature is RED, but you always want to remain conservative. This look helps the recruiter envision you in their uniform. I’d also like to note the bag. Many people forget the details apart from the suit, but they are important! You don’t want to show up with a bag that doesn’t match and doesn’t look structured.

3. US Airways/ American Airlines Uniform

US airways

Style Suggestion:

US Airways and American seem to be a bit more conservative, so I would follow suit. Conservative colors like Navy, Gray, and White pull together nicely. Please note that her ensemble is still fitted correctly and all tied together with matching belt, shoes, and understated gold watch.

4. Southwest/ Airtran Uniform

Style Suggestion:

Southwest and Airtran seem to like the traditional uniform but many photos show the Flight Attendants with their hair loose instead of pulled back, which gives a fresh youthful appearance.

5. Spirit Uniform

Style Suggestion:

Normally, wearing orange or bright striking colors is not advised for interviews, but for this career, I think you need something to help show some charisma and cheer. This look gives a slight pop of color and creativity. Make sure to anchor the scarf in place as instructed, and I would wear a white collared shirt as well.interview outfit6

6. Virgin America Uniform

Style Suggestion:

Virgin America is all about being polished and sexy. Their uniforms are flirty with a dramatic red color, sophisticated scarf, simple makeup, and perfectly styled hair. Below is a slightly more professional take for the interview.

*All photos are from company websites, pinterest, and google image search. The uniforms were the most up-to-date I could find, but are not guaranteed to be each airline’s company standard.
